How to check in at the airport ?

Your Flight Preparation

1. Confirm your flight :

Before being scheduled to fly, check to ensure that everything is moving in a planned manner. After purchasing your ticket, you should receive a confirmation email from your airline. Ensure that the flight is still scheduled to be taken on time.

a) If your flight time has changed, be sure to adjust your travel plans accordingly. Depending on how long your flight is delayed, it can affect any connecting flight you want to take. If you are worried that your connection will be lost due to delays in flight, then contact your airline.

b) Continue to check your flight status for your arrival at the airport. Some airlines will send you texts describing delays, but it is important for you that you continue to monitor the situation. Be especially careful during winter or when bad weather is predicted, as this will affect your flight.

2. Pack your documents :

You will not be allowed on a plane without your ticket and identity. Driving license or passport may be sufficient for passengers aged over 18 years. Travelers under the age of 18 who are traveling with an adult partner cannot be required to show identity.

a) If you are under 18 and traveling alone, then contact TSA or other appropriate authority to find out what forms of ID you will need.
b) If you are traveling internationally, you will not be allowed to go on a plane without a passport.
c) If you arrive at the airport without your ID, then you may be able to fly anyway. To confirm your identity you will have to fill out additional forms and answer some TSA questions.
d) Keep your documents handy. When you pass in safety, you will need to show them, so that they do not pack to reach the area.

3. Arrive Early :

When you are checking for flight, there are several variables to play, so plan to arrive for at least two hours before your flight. If you are traveling internationally, traveling with young children or traveling  with a disability, then plan ahead, even after reaching it.

a) If you are driving, leave extra time to park your car and if necessary, take the shuttle to your terminal.
b) If you are traveling on an airport for the first time, leave extra time in case you lose your time while navigating to the airport.

Checking for your flight

1. Find your airline :

You must first locate your airline when you arrive at the airport. The airports are divided into terminals, and various airlines have been placed in different terminals. There are also separate terminals for arrival and departure. You have to go to the exit terminal for your airline. You can find out which terminal your airline is by looking online, calling at the airport or by asking one of the employees at the airport.

a) If you are transporting extensively or someone is going to leave you at the airport, make sure you tell them which airline you are flying from, so they leave you on the right building.

2. Check your bag :

Depending on what you pack, you may have to check a bag or two. Most airlines will allow you to have a carry-bag (like a laptop case or purse) and a carry-on bag. If you are planning to check the bag, then go immediately to the counter of your specified airline.

a) If you are not checking a bag, skip this step and proceed to check directly.
b) Passengers are allowed to check two bags, but those bags have a weight and size limit. Check with your airline to see what those weight restrictions are.
c) Be careful about over-packs, because the checked goods may exceed $ 55.00 if the weight exceeds the limit.

3. Print your boarding pass :

To board your plane, you will need a boarding pass. If you have chosen to check your bag, give your airline attendant your identity and they will be able to print your boarding pass for you. If you are not checking your bag, you can still go to the attendant for help, or you can choose an easy and fast option.

a) Some airlines also provide kiosks for their own investigation. To use them, all you need is a credit card. Use a credit card for your identity and then follow the instructions on the kiosk to remove the printout of your boarding pass.
b) Some airlines also give you the option to check electronically. If this is the case, you will receive an e-mail 24 hours before your scheduled departure. Follow the instructions given in the email for your flight.

c) Print a copy of your boarding pass to take you to the airport with you. If you have a smartphone, you can open the boarding pass with your phone and use your phone as your boarding pass.

Going through Airport Security Check

1. Take off your outer clothes :

To successfully go through safety, you will need to remove your shoes, jackets, and belts. If you are wearing any metal ornaments, then remove them as they will also close the metal detector.

a) If you are over 75 or under the age of 13 years then you will not be asked to remove your shoes, if you have a TSA PRECHECK then you should not take off your shoes.

b) Check your pocket! Remove the metal made keys or any other things that close the metal detector.

c) When you are still waiting, try to remove your extra clothes. The security line moves very fast in the end and it is prepared as soon as possible. Avoid wearing sneakers with laces or any footwear, which are difficult to remove in a hurry.

d) Once you make it through security, clean the area and wear it. Most airports have a designated bench or seating area so that you do not close the security line as you compose yourself.

2. Remove your laptop :

If you are traveling with a laptop, take it out of your packed bag and keep it on the conveyor belt to scan it. Small electronic items, such as phones, kindles or small gaming systems, do not have to be removed from their bags to scan. If you are part of the TSA pre-check, you do not need to remove your laptop from your bag.

a) Check your pocket to make sure that you have not accidentally left your cell phone or iPod in.

3. Remove any fluid or gel :

If you are planning to pack liquids or gels in your carry-on, they will need to be removed from your bag during safety. All fluids traveling with you should be less than 3 liquid ounces and you will only be able to take 3. Therefore, they call it a 3-3-3 rule. If you bring more fluid containers than 3 liquid ounces, they can be taken from you and seized by the TSA.

a) TSA pre-checkers do not need to remove liquids or gels from their bags.
b) If you have an open bottle (like a water bottle or soda), you will be asked to throw them at this point. After going through security you will be able to purchase additional drinks.

c) It is usually easy to keep all your travel cosmetics in a gallon-shaped Ziploc bag. In this way, when you have to take them out for safety, you do not have to hunt every individual bottle. Travel-style cosmetics can be bought in most pharmacies.

d) Do not keep restricted items in your bag. It goes without saying that you will not be allowed to carry anything dangerous in the plane. But there are non-hazardous items that you can not pack in your carry-on. For the complete list of items, you can safely take you to a plane, check the TSA website, as it is often updated.

Checking at your gate

1. Find your gate :

Once you successfully make it through security, it's time to find your plane, check your boarding pass, which gateway your aircraft is departing from. Check this information twice on departure boards which are outside every security checkpoint. Once you confirm your gate number, go in that direction.

a) Before leaving the safety zone, make sure you have everything you need. You do not want to accidentally leave the laptop or jacket behind.

b) If you are having trouble finding your gate, ask an airport employee for help.

2. The stock of food items :

Many airlines no longer serve food on their flights. If you are flying a long flight or traveling during the meal, then buy some food and drinks to take with you on the plane. Try to think about your fellow travelers and do not be messy or smelly (like tuna or eggs).

3. Take a seat :

Once you place your food and your door, then it remains to be done. If your flight is late or there is a delay in weather or technical difficulties, then you can wait a little longer. To help the time pass, pack something and stay close to your gate area so that when you go to the board, you are inside the earshot.
